Star is the only one of these three in school at the moment although Flossy is starting later today.
Star already looks like her mother and if I’m not careful I’m going to be taking the wrong bird to school.
Star doesn’t venture out into the aviary yet and is well behaved in school. We’re expecting that to change in the next week or so.
It will be interesting to see if any of these three take to the beads like Smokey and Cedric did.
Star is out in the aviary quite often now. She looks just like her mother and has a lovely nature. Although Star can fly she’s not had her wings clipped yet as her landing skills need to improve a little first.
Flossy is very happy to sit with you throughout the school lesson and her grip is getting much better. She can balance on a large post but she’s not quite good enough to keep her balance on a finger.
Bertie is quite bewildered by the whole school thing. He shouts when coming out to school but as soon as school starts he starts paying attention.
Due to recent fashion trends, Bertie has taken a liking to Smokey's and Cedric's new feather style. It seems he liked their new look so much, he's asked his mum to give him the same plucking. Pebbles was more than happy to re-style his head and is getting quite good at it now. She should be moving onto colouring and highlights next.
I am hoping that none of the other birds decide they would prefer 'a new me' image as these hats are good quality stuff, (not top quality- I can't compete with that stuff) and the bills to this hat company are going to be rising!
Due to Pebbles 'new found skill' we have had to try to push the order for woolly hats forward, as it seems the birds will 'freeze for fashion'. They should be arriving shortly and I have managed to get through to 'Lauren De Vinchi'- a professional artist and have asked for her impression on how they will look with their new hats.
Bald Headed Bertie’ as the other birds are calling him.
Star is now looking so much like her mother that she can almost get out of school altogether. Picking up Pebbles is not a thing anyone would really want to do and Pebbles isn’t too happy about that idea either. Star is now out in the aviary with the other birds most of the time but does go back to the nest from time to time.
Flossy just cant look at Bertie without smirking. Flossy learnt to keep her head down and encouraged Bertie with his choice of head covering style. Flossy likes it in the nest box and spends a lot of time there - although she also sits in the main aviary in the day time. Flossy has taken to the skies and is currently learning to land.
Star is looking like a paler version of her mother - although you don’t see them together much as Pebbles is sitting on the next clutch of eggs at the moment. Star’s flying is great and she can get from the bird room into the lounge when she puts her mind to it.
Flossy has been accepted for entry into a special hand-fed school in Caerphilly. The school is run by an experienced bird breeder who will be topping up his feedings and instructing him in advanced singing techniques.
Bertie is ‘recovering’......His feathers are coming back again. He’s been the first bird selected to go for a special exam - DNA 101 - and if he passes this and is proved to be a She will be offered a permanent position here. However, should he fail, and is proven beyond any reasonable doubt, to be a He then in the adoption list he will go! See here for more details.
