Now this lot are a real mixed bunch.
Mildred is very calm and sensible. She can fly well but prefers to sit still and pay attention! Being the oldest in school must have had a good affect on her.
Colin and Tracy are like a pair of troublesome twins and if we didn’t already have a pair of ‘bad boys’ I’d be giving these that title! They mastered flying faster than any of the others and have also found the ceiling fan in the kitchen is a good hiding place. (Its like they’ve found notes from a previous student or a marauders map or something!).
Igor is still finding school interesting but complains when he has to go. He hasn’t tried flying yet, but I’m sure that wont be too far away. He is very good and very fast at running backwards - he starts faster than Colin Jackson and it takes very quick reactions to stop him leaping off into open air! (Thank god the kids still have their wits about them).
There are no real changes with this lot.
Mildred is still very calm and sensible and will even sit with you out in the bird room. She has somehow worked out how to remove her leg ring and I’ve given in to her so that she doesn’t have to wear it.
The troublesome twins, Colin and Tracy, both try to cause as much trouble as possible. When one bird takes off these two will both follow - I think they are trying to create a diversion in the hope someone will escape from school.
Igor is still a little shy. He can fly as well as the others now and has had his clipping to slow him down. He still likes to run backwards but thats more to shock you than to get away.
At last I’m getting to tell this lot apart from each other.
Mildred is still the calmest of the lot. Nothing seems to disturb her. Could it be to do with being the only yellow chick in an all white box?
Colin and Tracy still take to the skies as soon as they notice anyone else having a fly around - I think they dont want to be left out. Colin Ozzy met his new parents the other day and has been telling Tracy all about them.
Igor has been telling us that his name is pronounced ‘E’gor and not ‘I’gor. (Well it should be spelt with an E then!). Igors backwards running has stopped now - so we dont lose him too often.
Its now really easy to tell these apart - Mildred and Colin (now called Ozzy) have left so there’s only Tracy and Igor!
Both of the birds have finished school although they have asked to stay for an extra week to see what Pebbles and Romeos new chicks turn out to be.
Tracy and Igor are both used to their wing clipping and can fly pretty well again. They have trouble when they try to go straight upwards and but can gain height if they fly along and up. They do tire themselves out a bit quicker though!
Now I’ve put them in the top aviary - with Barnaby and Buttercup - Tracy seems to have taken a fancy to Barnaby while Igor has been checking out the nest boxes that are back up - must be a nostalgia trip for him.
