These were a bonded pair when we got them and have had four chicks with us so far. These are both Whiteface Pearl Pied birds and all of their chicks will be Whiteface Pearls as well. (For some reason the chicks all end up with names beginning with an ‘S’ sound).
Frank took an instant fancy to Nikitta as soon as they were introduced. They are excellent parents and have had 7 chicks. Frank is a Normal Pied split to Cinnamon. Nikitta is a Whiteface Cinnamon Pearl. They can have chicks with all sorts of combinations of the Pied, Pearl and Cinnamon mutations.
Romeo was originally called Ramona as he was a young male when we got him and not an older female! He has lived up to his name and now he’s paired with Pebbles has had 9 chicks. Romeo is a Whiteface Pearl and Pebbles is a Normal Pearl. Their chicks are either Whiteface Pearls or Normal Pearls and are really easy to tell apart as soon as they hatch. The Whiteface chicks are covered with white fluff and the Normal Pearls are yellow.
I know this is a pathetic photo - one day I’ll replace it! These are the latest pair to join the aviary and are both Pied Lutino birds. They’ve not yet bred together for us but I’m hoping for some chicks before the end of the summer. All of their chicks will also be Lutinos.
All of the single adults are males. Eric and Trixy have bonded as a pair and are constantly on the lookout for a nestbox. Stan and Kyler are both extremely tame birds that prefer human company to the other birds. Nibbles will try to chat up any of the other birds whenever he gets the chance.
There are some recordings on Stan’s page and hopefully we’ll be able to get Kyler to talk into the microphone at some stage as well.
