Smokey and Cedric can both rest easy now. After a bit of separation, counseling and Aunty sitting they’re starting to get their feathers back. Full Story Here
Daisy has stopped at four eggs. Phew! Now its just a waiting game to see who’s eggs she’s sitting on.
Pebbles now has four eggs and is being as protective as ever. I’m too scared to look in there when she’s sitting - I’m losing enough hair at the front of my head on my own.
Nikitta has finally seen sense and has stopped at six eggs. One of these has a small dent in it though - probably from Olly, Cecil or Dolly wandering round in there.
Donald and Daisy have stolen Frank and Nikittas nest box!
Eric and Trixy (both males - I think) are trying to set up home together - Nibbles seems to want to join in with them but they’re quite happy just the two of them.
Daisy has laid an extra two eggs in with Nikitta’s two and is happily sitting on them. (She’ll learn when she has four chicks to feed!).
Frank and Nikitta have now moved nest boxes and seem okay to start their next brood.
I’ve had to move these Bad Boys out of the main aviary as they were getting very, very possessive over all of the nest boxes and poor Nikitta really needed a new home after her nest napping incident!
All the birds have got over this incident now. Donald and Daisy have been happily laying eggs and Frank and Nikitta have settled in the other box.
Daisy has now laid a total of four eggs - I did feel a little sorry for Daisy and Nikitta so decided to intervene and had the stork come in and move two eggs from Daisy’s nest over to Nikittas. Nikitta now has four eggs. (Today is a laying day so we may get another egg or two - although four each is plenty for them and us to look after).
With Smokey and Cedric both coming out of the nest box now Romeo is getting back to his old tricks and courting both Pebbles and Florence! I think I’m going to have to board up this nestbox - very, very soon!
Eric and Trixy have both calmed down a bit now I’ve divided up the aviary again and let them back in. They did have a bit of a sulky moment but seem to have forgotten about it now. When they’re all out for their afternoon fly they still have a look in the other boxes just incase there’s a chance they can steal one.
With the Bad Boys sorted out I wasn’t expecting any more grief but I couldn’t have been more wrong! This even needs its own page!

Daisy is stopping with a total of four eggs, she and Donald are both sitting tight on the eggs and rarely come out of the nest box.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pebbles beat me to it! I sent the carpenters in to board up the nestbox and they walked off the site refusing to board up a nestbox when it had occupants! Pebbles has laid an egg!
Today she’s laid the second egg. She’s sitting tight on the eggs right away too. I hope she stops at two! (These will hatch within a week of Frank and Nikitta’s and Donald and Daisy’s so I’m going to have to increase the classroom sizes!)
Nikitta is showing her inexperience and has now laid another two eggs. She’s now sitting on a clutch of 6! That just can’t be comfortable - although Olly does try and help out occasionally.
Smokey and Cedric are both re-growing their feathers now and in a week or two you wont notice they were missing. Phew!

Daisy’s brood is beginning to hatch - Mildred is here! Gossip is spreading though as Mildred is a nice yellow colour.
Pebbles is sitting on six eggs now and thank goodness she’s stopped laying. Its a little early to tell how many are fertile but she’s going to be busy feeding them all now there’s only her and Romeo to do all of the work.
Nikitta’s brood is appearing very fast. Today we’ve had the third chick hatch. Two yellow ones and now one white one. That’ll teach me for moving the eggs around.
Florence has left the aviary to move in with her new boyfriend. Tired of being the ‘other bird’ she has moved into a city apartment with views over Cardiff bay. Apparently she had been writing to ‘Ken’ for some time and with no signs of Romeo leaving Pebbles she decided she’d setup home with Ken.
Smokey and Cedric both have their heads covered again - not that they noticed any difference! Full Story Here
Daisy’s going to have the easiest job - it looks like she’s only going to have two chicks to look after. See Cracking eggs.
Pebbles and Romeo are still sitting on their six eggs while feeding Smokey and Cedric. These two really make a racket when they’re hungry - They are real characters!
Nikitta on the other hand is going to be very busy - there are now four hungry chicks for her and Frank to look after. More info in Cracking eggs.
