The hatchings have finished for Daisy, Donald and Nikitta and Frank.
So we now have (in age order) - Mildred, Colin, Tracy, Sebastian, Sabrina and Igor. Donald and Daisy are looking after Mildred and Sabrina. Frank and Nikitta have a lot of work ahead looking after Colin, Tracy, Sebastian and Igor.
Half of Pebbles’ eggs have now hatched. The first two hatched on the same day - 24th April - just 18 and 20 days after being laid. There was one white chick and one yellow chick but sadly the white chick died soon after hatching.
Three days later though the third egg hatched with Flossy making her appearance.
This evening I noticed a crack in one of the other eggs so hopefully we’ll have a new arrival tomorrow.
Romeo and Pebbles can have whiteface pearl chicks and normal pearl chicks that are split to whiteface. The whiteface pearl chicks (they’ll look similar to Romeo) will be the white ones in the nest. The pearl chicks (they’ll look like Pebbles) will be the yellow ones. Unless there’s some other mutation in Romeo or Pebbles history that hasn’t shown up yet!
Now that Bertie has arrived to join Star and Flossy Romeo and Pebbles’ family is complete. The remaining two eggs didn’t hatch.
Hopefully the closure of the nest boxes will go smoothly and there won’t be any new hatching details to put here for a while.
